Starr Tincup contributes to Freedom Day community service event

Released on = September 29, 2006, 11:59 am

Press Release Author = Starr Tincup

Industry = Management

Press Release Summary = Firm offers marketing expertise for charity

Press Release Body = FT. WORTH, Texas – September 29, 2006 – Starr Tincup, an
integrated marketing firm that serves software and services companies through
customer selection, acquisition and retention, participated Sept. 11 in the
fifth-annual Freedom Day, a community service day hosted by the Entrepreneurs
Foundation of North Texas (EFNT). More than 265 volunteers representing 30 companies
affiliated with the EFNT network participated in the service day honoring those
whose lives were changed by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Starr Tincup volunteers met at William L. Cabell Elementary School in Dallas for a
kickoff ceremony, followed by a day of community service. This year EFNT partnered
with Junior Achievement to implement a one-day business skills curriculum for
elementary students. Eight Starr Tincup employees taught students about Junior
Achievement’s basic business curriculum to help them succeed as contributing members
of the community. Two other Starr Tincup volunteers worked outdoors on tasks such as
painting picnic tables and carports, trimming trees and removing brush.

“It’s deeply inspiring to see so many good corporate citizens come together to honor
an important day in our history, while at the same time benefiting their communities
and strengthening their companies,” said Pam Gerber, director of EFNT.

“This was our first year to participate in the event,” said J. William Tincup,
principal and co-founder of Starr Tincup. “At first you think of all the things you
need to do on a day off from work. But then you go through this emotional and
intellectual process when you’re out there volunteering, and you start to realize
that you’re needed out in the community. Those kids you are teaching and talking to
are listening to you because they need you, and that’s what makes it worth it.”
