Press Release Body: Creative Steel Solutions (a 100% owned subsidiary of Lifting Solutions Holdings) is offering businesses a free Smoking Solutions site survey and estimate to make life easier for business owners following the recent introduction of the UK smoking ban. Many businesses including Working Men’s Clubs still haven’t done anything about it and may soon see business fall if no provision for smokers is provided. On 1 July 2007, smokers became an endangered breed - at least while they are out in public. New laws mean that virtually all enclosed and partially enclosed public places and workplaces are now smoke-free zones. This includes pubs, bars, restaurants, clubs, offices, factories, shops and work vehicles.
There are now heavy penalties for breaking the anti-smoking laws including fines of up to £1,000 for failure to display no smoking signs, £200 fines for smoking in a non-smoking area and a whopping £2,500 for failing to prevent smoking in a non-smoking area.
Lifting Solutions’ managing director, Jonathan Moorhouse, explains: “Even if companies have followed the letter of the law and have properly enforced the smoking ban, we believe that many companies have failed to offer members of staff a smoking alternative. Whilst this in itself is not breaking the law, it is not good for staff morale if employees have to go and stand out in the rain and snow this winter to have a cigarette.
