Checker Sedan Reaches All Major Music Venues In Detroit

Released on: January 23, 2008, 10:36 am

Press Release Author: Jordan Knapp

Industry: Transportation & Logistics

Press Release Summary: Checker Sedan now offers service to all major music venues in
and around the city of Detroit. These include venues such as DTE Energy Music
Theatre, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Meadow Brook Hall.

Press Release Body: It\'s been a popular summer concert venue for more than 35 years
now. The DTE Energy Music Theatre is a 15,274-seat amphitheater located in
Clarkston, Michigan and one of several large music venues in the southeast Michigan
area. It was originally known as the Pine Knob Music Theatre, due to its proximity
to the nearby Pine Knob ski area and golf course, certainly within a luxury sedan
ride of most Detroit suburban locations.

\"In early 2001, the name was changed when DTE Energy (the parent company of Detroit
Edison) purchased the naming rights to the amphitheater in a ten-year, $10 million
deal,\" said Timothy McCarthy, Checker Sedan President. \"Despite this change, many
still continue to call the music concert venue, Pine Knob or \"the knob\". The
amphitheater\'s current owners are Palace Sports and Entertainment (PS&E).\"

The Palace of Auburn Hills is presently the second-largest arena in the NBA, which
helped the Pistons to record the league\'s highest home attendance from 2002-2006.
The Palace\'s large seating capacity (22,076 for basketball; up to 23,000 for
end-stage concerts and 24,276 for center-stage concerts) and suburban location have
also made it very popular for large concerts and, to a slightly lesser degree, major
boxing matches.
Meadow Brook Music Festival maintained an average attendance of more than 4,000 for
the fifth consecutive year during its 37-show summer of 2007 season. The intimate
amphitheatre and rolling hills played host to such traditional favorites as the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the 7th Annual Wine & Food Festival. Other season
highlights included three capacity crowd concerts: Lonestar, Stevie Wonder, and
Dashboard Confessional. Meadow Brook’s total attendance of nearly 150,000 should
maintain its annual appearance in Pollstar’s Top 100 Amphitheatre Venue’s list.
