E-ffordable Book Offerings Grow Again Poet James Penha Joins the Frugal Fiction Library

Released on: February 27, 2008, 7:30 am

Press Release Author: Frugal Fiction

Industry: Retail

Press Release Summary: Frugal Fiction proudly welcomes poet James Penha’s 1992 Omega
Cat Press Competition award-winning chapbook, On the Back of the Dragon to our
library.

Press Release Body: Penha’s poetic tales take us to Borneo, Bali, Bangkok, China,
Nepal, and Australia; his words painting places, people, and concepts that
captivate.

Virginia Howard, Editor of THEMA, said, \"James Penha is able to mold exotic topics
into poignant universal truths.\"

“I often feel more like a painter than a poet,” says Penha. “I see what’s horribly
and beautifully in front of my eyes—only peripherally visible to passersby—and try
to frame those images with colors sometimes bolder than real (sometimes black and
white), with a composition that leads an audience in time through a narrative, and
with discernible brushstrokes proving that some one, at least, has noticed.”

A native New Yorker, James Penha has lived for the past sixteen years in Indonesia.
No Bones to Carry, the latest volume of Penha’s poetry, has just been published by
New Sins Press. Among the most recent of his many other published works are an
article in Classroom Notes Plus; fiction at East of the Web and Ignavia; and poems
in THEMA, and in the anthologies Silver Boomers (Silver Boomer Books), Queer
Collection (Fabulist Flash Publishing) and Only the Sea Keeps: Poetry of the Tsunami
(Bayeux Press). Penha edits a website for current-events poetry at New Verse News.
