Press Release Summary: The performance of the Champs bowlers was fairly good but now
this was the time for the batsmen to follow up.

Press Release Body: With a fantastic performance against the Mumbai Champs on
Wednesday, March 12 in Chandigarh, the Kolkata Tigers registered their win in their
first match in the ICL Twenty20 series. The star of the game was Andre Adams who was
awarded the Man of the Match. He scored 21 runs and also took 3 wickets against the
Champs.

The first innings was played by the Kolkata Tigers who chose batting on winning the
toss. The innings was opened by Subhomoy Das and Lance Klusener who managed to keep
the runs coming in till the third over when Klusner gave away his wicket to Best.
Jhunjhunwala however came in and took charge and scoring 33 runs. Runs kept coming
in at a steady pace. Gavaskar also contributed with his unbeaten 41. With their
strong batting line up, the Kolkata Tigers were able to manage a score 146 for the
loss of 5 wickets.

The performance of the Champs bowlers was fairly good but now this was the time for
the batsmen to follow up. Paul and Jayantha came in to open the innings but Jayantha
departed back to the stands on the mere third ball. Patil was then sent in and he
managed to bring the required stability in the line up. He scored 52 and lost his
wicket however in the ninth over with the total score of 76. Things started to
worsen here. In the last 5 overs however, the Champs lost 7 wickets and this is what
has been attributed as the cause of losing the match.

This was an important match for the Mumbai Champs and was required to be won after
their fated defeat in the first match against Delhi Giants. Let’s see what action is
in store in the up coming matches in the ICL series.
