EatLowSodium now presents over one hundred low salt food products at its online store

Released on: June 30, 2008, 6:49 pm

Press Release Author: Umit Demir / Eat Low Sodium

Industry: Food & Beverage

Press Release Summary: EatLowSodium.com is an online store that specializes in
selling low-sodium and salt-free foods. Today the store owners announced that
visitors can now find over 100 food products for their low sodium diets.

Press Release Body: Patients of various medical conditions such as hypertension,
diabetes, and Meniere’s disease follow a low sodium diet. While most unprocessed
foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits have naturally low sodium, a lot of
processed, canned products have high amounts of sodium. The sodium level is so high
in certain canned products that it presents a serious problem for many, especially
for those who have to be on low sodium diet.

It is not easy to find low sodium versions of some of these foods. For instance,
snacks, canned soups we find in supermarkets typically contain 400 milligrams of
sodium and more (many over 1,000 milligrams per serving). This is where
EatLowSodium.com stepped in:

EatLowSodium began listing low sodium versions of foods that we would normally find
high in sodium while shopping at supermarkets and grocery stores. The list contains
products such as salt free ketchup, low sodium cereals, baked beans, protein
powders, sodium free peanut butter, mustard and many others. The list tops over 100
products and aims to be the largest list of low and no sodium foods in the Internet.

The site founder Umit Demir commented that the site lists products that have less
than 150 milligrams of sodium per serving. Most products on the site have no sodium.
“We also make sure we do not add products that can be harmful for other healthy
diets in our list. For instance we exclude items that are high in carbohydrates,
gluten or fat,” added Mr. Demir.

The site plans to enlarge the list and include over 500 products for low sodium
dieters by the end of the year.
