She is brutally, physically and sexually abused while left in his care and produces a boy child. Escaping her uncle's clutches at the tender age of fifteen, her life seems blighted by reoccurring nightmares. But after finding solace with an old lady over a decade later, Beth finally decides to seek help. This decision brings about its own repercussions and Beth wonders if she will ever find true happiness and be reconciled with her demons. Even meeting her thirteen year old son, Greg, leads to an inconceivable tragedy that nobody would have envisaged or predicted and it shatters the reunited family. But is true happiness just around the corner for this genteel, beautiful and spirited woman?

Sheila Gudgeon lives in Warrington in Cheshire, England. Sheila has also written a children's book and she is currently working on her next fiction novel.

“Oh Lord! Not that child again, the sounds were deafening to her ears. It was pure torture! Sheer agony! Someone stop her please! She pleaded. The poor girl was obviously distraught and in a great deal of suffering. Why does no one help her?" As usual, the young woman woke abruptly and predictably realised she was in her own nightmare again. Her hair was dripping sweat onto her now tortured features and the bed linen was absolutely soaked through. "Oh Lord not today!" Beth muttered, as she realised she had wet her bed again. What a way to start my birthday; Beth thought. It was the 9th October 1976 and it was also Beth Adams’ twenty-eighth birthday. This had been a particularly bad nightmare and she knew exactly why. The bile was rising at speed in her already burning throat and Beth catapulted herself out her very soggy bed.”
