DirectRooms.com – Dusseldorf Awakens the Hoppeditz on 11 November 2011

DirectRooms.com announces that this November Dusseldorf’s hilarious jester like character, the Hoppeditz will be giving his annual speech to the masses which marks the start of a city wide carnival.

The legend of the Hoppeditz goes that each year on 11th November he’s awakened from his coffin and sets off to give his speech from the balcony at City Hall. Visitors can hear the roguish figure giving his comical stand up of this year’s main events from 11:00 on the day and he’s sure to be making fun of many of the city’s public figures.

The speech is all in German but non-speakers shouldn’t be concerned as there’s plenty more in addition to the main address. Thousands are set to gather in their best clown outfits, comically dressed as over 300 costumed balls are staged throughout the city. All the bars will be heaving with people and the emphasis of the carnival is definitely on fun and laughter.

On the day Dusseldorf can even stake a claim as having the world’s longest running bar as seemingly all the old district’s bars are open and overflowing with people having a good time. At the end of the carnival a statue of the Hoppeditz is burned to mark his return to his coffin until he’s called again for next year.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “Trying to find a room at any hotel Dusseldorf City Centre is going to be difficult if people haven’t planned ahead. Rooms may still be available online but the earlier people can book the better.”
