The event comes in the same month as the Chinese year of the dragon celebrations and is organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Dance Association.

As with its other regular events, it is designed to help increase the popularity of martial arts and to bring together practitioners from around the world.
